Readers who have been following this strip might remember I introduced “Choy” in strip #14. He is a slacker and not a very good programmer. I want to add a new character whose characteristic is exactly opposite to Choy’s, and it’s “Nib”. Smart, but a bit naive. They both give a lot of headaches to Dee, their project manager.

Some might want to know what kind of vegetable Nib is based on. He’s supposed to be a bamboo shoot. I live in Canada, and I have never seen one available in supermarket. They really shouldn’t be sold uncooked, because they are only edible when thorougly poached in boiling water to get all the cynide out. I can’t imagine how many people might get sick if they eat them fresh uncooked. When cooked properly, it’s crunchy and has a very distinct flavor.
