Chloroville now on Facebook and Twitter
on February 1, 2009 at 12:37 amTwo years ago my friend asked me to join Facebook and I hesitated, he said, “Are you living in a cave? Embrace the technology!” So I joined. One year ago, I told my coworker about my new comic and my problem promoting the site, she said, “May be you can start a Facebook group called Chloroville! You can announce all kinds of cool things with it.” There you go, a Chloroville Facebook group – one year after she suggested it.
And today, I setup my Twitter account. I am still skeptical about its value, but who knows? I might become a Twitter addict. In the Internet world, there is no such thing as late, but only too late. I hope I am not too late.

Well, I myself wasen’t too crazy about Twitter, and I gave up all hope of it a few days after I started it, but I do have friends who do like (if not love) the prospects of it. A tip, don’t give away too much personal info. If someone wants to know every waking moment of your life, and their will be some people like that, don’t satisfy them.
Still, you might get more readers that way, if some people don’t go on facebook.
I like to keep in touch with a few friends on Twitter but I also have people who have followed me because of the comics I do. I have entertained having a personal account and a comic account but it’s a lot of time and work. I think Twitter works best for finding and chatting with a few dozen interesting people. No one on earth can keep track of 5000 people, you know?
I’d advertise C-ville on other cute sites. You’re getting better and better, and people will come. I like today’s strip a lot. (#61) Are you aware of the progress you’ve made? If not, it really shows to me, and I thought you started off quite well.
Watch for my upcoming post on FloatingLightbulb.blogspot.com about creating a universe, probably within the week. It might have some useful ideas for you.
For a self-described hobby this is a very professional effort. I’m a bit proud that I spotted you early on, like I had a sixth sense.

Hi Bengo,
Thanks for your comments. Frankly, I am quite busy with my “real job”, so as long as I am producing a new strip every week, I am satisfied. (I remember the creator Ripeville stopped making new strips shortly after announcing he’s too busy with his full time job.) Hopefully this comic will do its “magic” without too much advertising.
I was aware of the progress I was making only half a year ago, when all the characters had their own occupations. It is quite important because “you are what you do” (similar to you are what you eat or own) and stories can be spun up based on their daily adventure at work. The critical moment to me was that “Jon-Jon is a farmer who grows jellybeans”. It literally set the nature of the Chloroville fantasy world.
