The tree salesman is supposed to be a lotus flower root. Very commonly used in Asian cooking. Chinese like to use lotus roots in soup. They are also sliced up and sun-dried and served as candy chips on Chinese New Year.
Victor, I’m from Hong Kong too, but now I live in Beijing. May I make a suggestion that louisa is probably from somewhere else and so uses simplified chinese. Maybe she will have difficulties reading traditional chinese?
For example, “画”(which means “draw”) is very different from “畫”.
I just found this comic yesterday and I already love it. You have a really good drawing style combined with interesting three dimensional characters, I look forward to seeing what kind of whacky adventures they get into. Also I like how you use vegetables and stuff from foreign countries as well. I lived in Japan for a while and it felt good to see a Daikon Radish (at least I think thats what Choy is lol) anyway, keep up the good work
I don’t get the reaction to the multi-colored ones…
@kirb: I skimmed you DeviantArt stuff and I think you could definitely enjoy a nice readership. Just please, PLEASE, get a real webhost and pop a CMS on there. I hate people thinking that dA can be used for webcomics. It’s just a gallery. :/
I just wanted to say – I stumbled upon your comic this morning before my doctor\’s appointment and each of the strips brought a smile to my face. I\’m a webcomics creator myself and I can totally sympathize with just how much work goes into making each and every strip a winner. I\’m so impressed that you can create something so vibrant, cute, funny, and endearing – and in Illustrator none-the-less!
For some odd reason, your strip just brought to mind one of my favorite NES games – Princess Tomato and the Salad Kingdom. ^_^ How nostalgic!
Please keep up the great work and hang in there!

heh… marshmallow tree… i wish it were real. i’d plant one for certain. any time you feel like making smores or a cocoa float or just eating one straight … pop outside and pick one off.
don’t think they’d take too well to a rainstorm though!
Thank you for explaining just how I can mutilate and eat your new character. =)
Hi Louisa,

Louisa is from Shanghai. I don’t know simplified Chinese and personally I prefer traditional Chinese much better.
I have just discovered your webcomic ! Love it ! Great concept and your characters are funny and catchy !
Hi Morin,
Thanks
You’ve made my day. I have just checked out your comics and I love your characters too… but I can’t read it because it’s in French
Cheers,
Victor

Those multi-colored mini marshmallows may be unnatural, but they are still delicious! >_<
Ella, thanks for all the nice comments!
You do know that it’s marsh mAllow, right?
MonkeySpanker,
Thanks… I guess my typo made the strip even less funny
Now let me hunt down my editor.
